The Foal Sighting and Presentation have started for the Oldenburger Verband and Oldenburger Jumping Horses International from the 5th of July to 10th of August. During this period about 1500 foals will be sighted, DNA typed, micro chipped and branded. During this period various studs and locations offering their facilities, mostly stallion owners properties (see photo below at Zuchthof Klatte and Paul Schockemoehle). From 5 to up to 200 foals are shown at the various location. The procedures are as follows: 1. The owners present the foal and the foal diagram, where a hair sample is taken 2. The foal is shown on the dam on a trianagle to the judges ( see photo below) 3. After 6 foals they are all presented togehter and Premium Awards are given and they may are accepted for the foal auction in Vechta. 4. Afterwards they get micro chipped and branded by one person (see photo below) and couple months later the Equiden Pass (passport ) will be posted out.

Short Report about the ACE tour and DJWTS 2009 and their successful horses - Click Here
In Victoria, bush fires have completely destroyed complete towns and killed hundreds in our worst natural disaster on record. In Queensland, floods have destroyed many communities and isolated hundreds of people. Many horse owners have been affected by these natural disasters and the ACE Group has many members who have lost property and been directly affected.
The ACE Group will donate $10 per registration processed from the 7th February to the 30th of April towards bush fire and flood victims in Australia. So please join us now and help make a difference.
Here are a few stories from people who have been affected by the Victorian bush fires...
Hopefully I have a property left for you to visit by then (the ACE tour)! 20km wall of flame 6-10km east of me moving slowly my way (depending on the wind). Yearlings about to get rapid tie training and float loading practice today! My other mare to be classified is at Darnum currently and also at risk! - Susan Dunn, Upper Beaconsfield
We were lucky with the fire it was the other side of Broadford. It all came down to the wind for us. It was 5 kms away on sat i think we are right now or I hope we are. - Melissa Froesch, Broadford
Everyone is safe (just) and took the horses out on Friday and put them in stables out of the way and they stayed and fought the blaze - they say it rushed at them from all quarters and destroyed four adjoining houses and properties but they managed to save their house and stables but the paddocks & sheds and arena are all destroyed. They're hoping to be able to rebuild the paddocks as No.1 priority once they get the go ahead from insurers. Some parts of the property still burning and risk of outbreak again so police have closed roads into Labertouche. We got through them on Sunday and took generator and foodstuffs so they have light etc but phone lines all down. They're letting us know on a daily basis what they need and probably hay and horse fed will be first on the agenda once they get the paddocks rebuilt. - Charlie and Nicole Vannatta, Labertouhe

Now I have been 4 weeks in Germany, the weather has changed dramactilly, from sunny hot 35 degreees to very rainy days down to 17 degrees. Luckily for the every day horse training program there is a nice large indoor arena to use. On the 4th and 5th of August we had 3 large shows very interessting for the breeders. The Dressage World Championships for Young Horses in Verden. Full results see webpage. The South Germany Championship for Young Horses. The winners are as follows: 3 years old stallion Radcliffe (Bavarian) bz Rivero – Pik Bube standing at the Haup – und Landgestuet Schwaiganger 4 years old stallion Alassios Boy (Bavarian) by Alassio – Heraldik xx standing at Gestüt Birkhof 3 years mares and geldings Moulint Rouge (Württemberger) bz Matchos As- Flirt 4 years Rambour (Württemberger) by Rubin Royal – World Cup I and Royal Harry (Bavarian) bz Royal Diamond – Rottenburg J 5 years old dressage horse winner was Weinrausch (Hessen) by Wolkenstein – Mandant 6 years Bavarian Dream (Bavarian) by Wolkentanz I – Bolero 5 years old jumping horse; winner was Aralimbo (Württemberger) bz Arconit – Limbus stanging at Gesüt Dobel 6 years old again a son by Araconit – Latus Aratus (Württemberger) In eventing the 4,5 and 6 years old champions were: Matcho by Motely xx – Merian Golden Boy by Gino de Grande – Trouble Maker xx La Biosthetique Sam by Stand the Man xx – Heraldix xx. The foal Championship took place for the 6th time in Lienen, Westphalia sponsored and organised by the Insurance Company LVM. Total prizemoney was Euro 25000 and prizes in the same value were given out.I went on Saturday to see the first round of the colts. From 132 colts qualified about 60 colts were shown, some came as far as 7 hours away, the temperatures were comfortably 25 degrees. First they were trotting next to the mare on the lovely prepared arena with 3 judges standing in the middle surrounded by spectators in white classy tents. 3 separeted marks were given for type, movement and exterieur and correctness. After 8 foals they all came together on the ring the get one mark for overall type. The best 10 qualified for the final ring on Sunday. This year they had also the For Pleasure ring for jumping line bred foals. In this ring fillies and colts were judged together in the final. Results are as follows: Colts: 1st Florencio – Sion – Figaro breeder Ewald Grotelüschen, Wardenburg who sold him over the Vechta Foal Auction for Euro 52000 on the 12th of August, a double success. 2nd Londonderry- De Niro-Camelot breeder Margaret Strohm, Nordhorn. 3rd Rubinus-De Niro-Sion bred by Maik Kanitzky, Herzberg-Züllsdorf. Winner of the fillies was a daughter bz Fuerst Piccolo – Laomedon – Ramion breeder Günter Voss, Coesfeld-Lette, 2nd bz Dimaggio-Fürst Heinrich-Wladstar xx, bredder Dr. Kirsten Schwenyer, Dinklage and 3rd a filly bz Conet Obolensky-Landadel-Godehard. The For –Pleasure-Ring was won by a colt by Argentinus-Chasseur II-Rabanus breedder ZG Engelbrecht-Kannegiesser, Espenau-Hohenkirchen, the asking price for this foal was Euro 20000. 2nd a colt by Cornet Obolensky-Heraldik xx-Grando breeder Thomas Schindler,Ottesrweier and 3rd a colt by Quality-Silvio I-Lanthan by dieter Schmidt, hude-Altmoorhof. The pony foals made a big impression a few breeders would have wished they would come 20cm bigger. The 5th foal auction in Vechta was very successful. 98 foals were on list to be auctioned on Saturday the 12th of August. About 88 came in the ring commencing at 4pm with the auction part. With a slower start number 20 a colt by Florencio I-Carbas-Lady's King wnet for Euro 23000 to Linsehoff (Dressage barn), as well as number 22 a colt by Stedinger-Carnado-Donnerhall for Euro 30000, catalouge number 57 a filly by Welt Hitt II-Noble Roi xx-Figaro went into the same stable for Euro 50000. A jumping line bred colt by Solitair-Contendro I- For Pleasure number 43 went for Euro 40000 to a Jumping stable Erdmann. After an ½ break the auction started with number 50 with an sensational Euro 110000, the colt by Fürst Heinrich-Donnerhall-Classiker changed ownership to Denmark. Number 74 gained another far above average price of Euro 62000 a filly by Fidertanz-De Niro-Akzent II. It appears like foals with a least 3 generation well bred either for dressage or jumping with lots of potenial shown on the day were well priced above average. Overall the quality of the foals was excellent. And it his always interesting seeing auctionator Uwe Heckmann at his best. Last weekend the tradional Stoppelmarkt was celebrated (for more than 700 years), a fair with rides, music, bier gardens and on Monday a horse market. This Saturday we are leaving for Aachen, to put up the Zuchthof Klatte – ESI Sportpferde Auktion stand. More News next.
